admin Sterling and Wilson Solar has announced that it has been awarded the prestigious ‘Renewable Company of the Year’ in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Region at the recently held MEED Awards 2019.
Sterling and Wilson Solar has won the ‘Specialist Contractor of the Year’ for 2018 and this also awarded at the same event. The Award is for the appreciativeness to recognize business excellence among organizations contributing to the diversification of the non-oil sector in the GCC market,
Sterling and Wilson Solar’s director and global CEO, Bikesh Ogra, said, “we are delighted to be recognised by MEED for the second year in a row. This award is particularly noteworthy given our own efforts towards driving change in the renewable energy space which supports the GCC government’s vision of a clean and sustainable energy future. The 2019 edition of MEED awards focused on acknowledging companies for their contributions towards the development of people, sector diversification, the advancement of society and sustainability. This year, around 250+ nominations from organizations and individuals were submitted to the awards for consideration in 16 categories. Including 2.8 GW in the Middle East market, Sterling and Wilson Solar has been executing projects globally and has to its credit 8.8 GW of solar power projects in various geographies (commissioned and under construction). SWSL had a global market share of 4.6 percent in the year 2018 (which is double the size of the 2nd largest company globally). It was also the largest solar EPC solutions provider in Africa and the Middle East with a market share of 36.6 percent and 40.4 percent respectively. Sterling and Wilson Solar has operations in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australia regions with 25 countries today.
