Every patient that visits me gives me a chance to be innovative – Dr. Suchismita
Dr. Suchismita had made up her mind about her career right in her childhood. Her inspiration was her grandfather, who had always wanted her to become a doctor. He passed away when Dr.Suchismita was in sixth class, and that was the moment she took it upon herself to fulfil his dream. That is not her only driving force, however. As she made her way through life, Dr Suchismita realised that giving back to society is imperative. She organises regular dental health check-up for the lower socio-economic group of people in her vicinity.
Following the Right Footsteps
Dr. Suchismita has always been a highly motivated person. Growing up, her main source of motivation was her own father. Running his own architectural firm, her father is a very proactive person and is constantly working towards a larger goal. However, her greatest inspiration was her mentor, Dr. Anusuya Sharma. Dr. Anusuya Sharma is a great oral surgeon whose first priority is the betterment of the patient. Dr. Suchismita found great inspiration in Dr. Anusuya Sharma. Her continuous guidance imbued Dr. Suchismita with the traits of a better human being. She has become a better leader now, and carries out her leadership roles with ease. She believes that she applies her leadership principles in real life as well, making her more organised.
Ends Justify Means
Dr. Suchismita holds the doctor patient relationship very sacred and important. She believes in building trust and connection with the patient. She treats them with the utmost respect and never hesitates in providing them all the alternatives. She is a massive proponent of ethical practice and always puts patient satisfaction and comfort first. “It is this doctor-patient relationship and I believe hard work and consistency that has made me who I am today,” Dr. Suchismita reflects on being a successful leader in her field.
This success was however hard to achieve, and Dr. Suchismita had to face many obstacles. One of the major hurdles that she had to overcome was convincing the patients that she could indeed do her job. Being an oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr Suchismita is specialised in extraction of teeth and placing dental implants. During extractions, a lot of patients felt that the doctor, being a woman, would not be able to extract the tooth successfully. They were not aware that it is not the power but the technique of the extraction that matters. Another hurdle that she had to face was the one that has troubled the entire world: the Covid 19 pandemic. People are unwilling to go for treatments unless it is an absolute emergency. At the same time, the cost of raw materials has shot up, while the treatment costs remain the same.

The Master Plan
Despite these challenges, Dr. Suchismita is still optimistic, and has grand future goals. Along with having a bigger and better setup, she plans on starting her own academy where she can teach budding dentists about the trade and skills. Currently, she conducts seminars at her own clinic, but she hopes that one day she would be conducting them in a proper classroom, academy style.
Passing On the Legacy
Dr. Suchismita encourages budding female investors to start something of their own. She believes that the best time to start something was yesterday – the next best time is now. Dr. Suchismita is a very good example of how one can overcome their obstacles and achieve their lifelong dreams. While there is still a long way to go for Dr. Suchismita, there is no doubt about the fact that the path that she has embarked upon would only lead to great success for herself. Starting early and starting young is the way to go if one yearns to achieve success and fame. At the same time, Dr. Suchismita also shows that one must not forget their own roots, and where they have come from. Giving back to society is not only paramount but also one’s duty, and one must remain humble and always aware of that fact.
