Amy’s dedication to dementia care led to her instrumental role in bringing the University of South Carolina’s Dementia Dialogues program to Utah. This program offers training sessions to prepare healthcare workers for the successive cognitive function losses experienced by their family members. Amy’s work has earned her recognition as the University of Utah College of Nursing’s first Young Alumni Award winner.
Amy’s professional journey began with an associate’s degree in nursing from Salt Lake Community College in 1998, followed by a career as an acute care nurse. Her pursuit of excellence led her to complete the College of Nursing’s RN to BS program in 2004. Subsequently, she became the director of nursing at a post-acute rehabilitation facility. Observing the invaluable care her grandparents received in their homes, Amy worked with several home health and hospice companies. In 2013, she took the bold step of founding Solstice, driven by a passion for providing high-quality, community-based care and empowering her healthcare professionals to make a difference.
Amy’s extensive involvement in the healthcare community is underscored by her role as the president of the Utah Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and as a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Utah Chapter, the state’s Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia Coordinating Council, and the Utah Association for Home Care.
