“The sanctity of running your own business is for sure challenging, but having the ability to create an environment where you can ‘thrive’ is soul fulfilling,” said Debra Rozier, CEO  & Founder of Inovitech, a solutions company based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Seeing opportunity in every challenge, Ms. Rozier has started Inovitech in 2011, coupled with launching a new software product solution to the market. Its first cutting-edge cloud-computing software, called IS-A-TASKTM is a dynamic workflow project management application designed to help alleviate the bottlenecks that occur with managing highly transactional eDiscovery projects. The core of IS-A-TASKTM offers a tighter collaboration between those who manage projects and those who work on project tasks to completion. It is a highly configurable and collaborative application that centralizes all aspects of managing projects amongst all project stakeholders.

Inovitech is a 100% woman owned business. “Since the launch of IS-A- TASKTM in February 2014, we acquired clients ranging from corporations, law firms, service providers and government agencies. Having exposure to a well rounded client base has given us a tremendous opportunity, very early on in its launch, to ensure the product’s stability and long-term growth.,” said Ms. Rozier.

You can have a lot of great ideas, but if someone does not provide you the opportunity or vehicle to shine or express those ideas, that can be debilitating.

eDiscovery Expert with an Instinctive, Dynamic, Entrepreneurial Spirit

Ms. Rozier has been in the eDiscovery Technology profession for over 24 years. She has a unique vantage point that comes from three distinct areas of work experience: corporate law, law firm, and eDiscovery service provider. Ms. Rozier’s collective experience naturally progressed into a fourth distinction; establishing the launch of a pure eDiscovery technology company.

Prior to founding Inovitech, Ms. Rozier held several executive level positions. Her professional experience has cultivated product innovation and strategic solutions that reduced costs and measured continuous process improvement. She has an instinctive, dynamic, entrepreneurial spirit, and it is through those years of experience, building workflow processes, innovating products, and services, that gave her the confidence to venture into entrepreneurship.

Ms. Rozier has been honored with many awards over the years for her innovative thought ideas.  Her achievements have been highlighted in operations management, technical, analytical and conceptual design. She has also authored several industry-related articles.

Key Elements for Woman Leadership

According to Ms. Rozier, the key elements in woman leadership are the ability to step forward with confidence, grit, consistency, and experience.  She believes the combination of all of these traits not only provides us with the ability to compete with ourselves to strive higher, but it instinctively lifts others around you.

Ms. Rozier said, “Be confident, understand your strengths and weaknesses and be highly self-aware and know when to lean in for assistance.” She added it’s ok if you don’t know everything, but recognizing it early is important.

“Grit will give courage to never give up and work through the hardest of obstacles. Learn from the mistakes and believe ‘I can do this’.  Challenge yourself and fill the knowledge gap with resources is critical”

“Be consistent! It doesn’t matter what it is, but if you agree to something, deliver, not only to others but to ourselves. Be consistent in how you approach decision making, problem solving and crafting solutions”

I own all of the decisions I’ve made to date. The good and the bad! It is in the bad that teaches me how best to navigate in the future.

Smartwork or Hardwork

“I believe in working hard on smart work!  I am very focused on achieving goals, and because of that, I quickly carve out the noise of busy work.” Also, Ms. Rozier added it’s important to make daily/weekly lists of objectives that force you to perform complicated tasks.  Also, create repeatable processes to reduce redundancy and build employees up to own specific components of the operation to foster team connectivity.

Work-life Balance

Ms. Rozier says on Work-life balance, “I was married to my career and 10 years ago, I decided to quit the corporate world cold turkey and begin the journey of discovering myself.  I wanted a different life, a shared life.  Forcing myself to disconnect allowed me to focus on things that truly inspired me.  This journey has humbled me, opened my mind and heart and it is today that I am living my best life.”

Ms. Rozier’s Greatest Inspiration

“Jim McGowan is my greatest inspiration, my high-school softball coach!  Being a product of deceased parents at an early age, I was a lost soul, without direction before meeting him.  His words, heart, kindness, and discipline made me the person I am today.  It is he who helped me understand that I have a talent and something to offer to the world.  I still have his words ringing in my ear ‘Dare to be different, dare to be great’. I will forever be grateful to him for seeing something in me before I did.”

Rivalry among Business Competitors

“I love to see someone succeed.  I love the drive in them and the ability to just try.  I am a person that keeps a blip on the competition, but is more focused on driving innovation towards the needs of my customers.”

Greatest Fear

“My greatest fear is to lose vibrancy and to be shackled to thrive. I have a creative mind that needs to breathe. However, I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. If the course I am on now proves too challenging to navigate in the future, then I will assess the situation and course correct. I am not afraid to create different paths in life as long as it is the next right step.”

Nothing makes me happier than working in a ‘think-tank’ surrounded by those who are willing and able to come to the table with an open mind and shelved egos as this breaths and fosters innovation.

Management Style

Ms. Rozier reveals her management style, “I am tough for the best output for the customer.  I love to provide individuals with the opportunity and with that opportunity comes responsibility. I want my employees to feel a part of something greater than themselves and free to thrive within themselves.”

She believes to achieve long term relationships you should be honest with customers to build trust.

“Being true to who we are is vital to handle the ebbs and flows of running a business. It also brings an aura of trust between those you work with and those you have to deliver to.”
